How to add text to a video

  1. Open a video, or drop it on the page.
  2. Add a title, a caption or a name tag, type it, and set when it starts and ends.
  3. Choose its size, colour, box and position, then select Add text and save the video.

Three starting points

A title is large and in the middle, a caption sits along the bottom in a box, and a name tag sits in the lower corner. Each is only a starting point: change the size, colour, box and position of any of them.

Timed to the second

Every piece of text has its own start and end, so one title can open the video and a name tag can appear when someone starts speaking. The preview shows each one at its moment.

Any language

Text in Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and other scripts is drawn correctly, right to left where it should be, and long lines wrap inside the picture.

Questions about Add text to video

Is my video uploaded?

No. The text is drawn on each frame in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server.

How many pieces of text can I add?

As many as you need. They can overlap in time, and each keeps its own style.

Can I drag the text with the mouse?

Not yet. Choose one of seven positions: the top, the middle, the bottom or a corner.

Does the sound change?

No. The sound is copied as it is whenever the file allows it. The picture is encoded again, at a high quality.

What about full subtitles?

For many lines, or an SRT file, the subtitle tool is quicker: one style for all the lines, and a file you can load.
