How to add a progress bar to a video

  1. Open a video, or drop it on the page.
  2. Choose the top or bottom, the thickness and the colour, and whether to show the time remaining.
  3. Select Add progress bar and save the video.

Why add one

Most vertical video apps hide or shrink their own progress bar. A bar in the picture tells people how much is left, so they are more likely to stay until the end of a tip, a story or a tutorial.

In your colours

Pick the top or the bottom, a thickness and your own colour, with or without a faint track behind it. Add the time remaining as a small countdown in the corner if you like.

Accurate to the frame

The bar is drawn on every frame from that frame's own time, so it fills evenly and ends exactly at the end of the video, right in your browser.

Questions about Add progress bar

Is my video uploaded?

No. The bar is drawn on each frame in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server.

Where should the bar go on Reels and TikTok?

The apps put buttons and captions over the bottom of the picture, so the top is often safer. Try it in the preview, then check it in the app.

Can it fill from right to left?

Not yet: the bar fills from left to right, in every language.

Does the sound change?

No. The sound is copied as it is whenever the file allows it. The picture is encoded again, at a high quality.
