Terms of Use
Plain terms for a free video editor that runs on your own device.
What Scissor Film is
Scissor Film is a free video editor and a set of video tools at film.scissor.studio. Everything runs in your web browser, on your own device. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Your videos stay yours
The videos, music, photos and subtitle files you open are processed in your browser and are never uploaded. We never receive them, so we cannot see, keep, share or use them, and we claim no rights over them or over what you make with them.
Because your files never reach us, we also cannot recover them. Keep your own copies. A project lives only in the open tab: closing or reloading the tab clears it.
Use it lawfully
Only edit material that you own or have permission to use. Do not use Scissor Film to infringe copyright or anyone else's rights, or to make content that is illegal or that harms other people, such as harassment, deceptive impersonation, intimate images shared without consent, or anything that exploits minors. What you make is your responsibility.
Do not try to disrupt the site or the servers that deliver it, get around its security, or copy the site to offer it as your own service.
Free, and provided as it is
Scissor Film is free. It is new: the editor is available now, and exporting and the one-click tools are still being built. We may change, add or remove features, or pause the service, at any time.
The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be available, free of errors, or fit for a particular purpose. Results can depend on your browser and device.
Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, files, profits or time, that comes from using or not being able to use Scissor Film. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
Waitlist emails
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address to send you one email when Scissor Film launches, as described under Privacy. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Our name and code
The Scissor name, logo, design and code belong to Scissor. Please do not use them in a way that suggests we made or endorse something we did not. Some parts of the site are open-source software and remain under their own licences.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Scissor Film grows. The date below shows the latest version, and using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
